Lestat cocked a brow and gently sat the china back down on the table. "So early Louis? What, eagerly awaiting sleeping alone?" Lestat was instantly regretting getting Louis his own coffin. It was strangely nice to cuddle with his fledgling during the day, and he was going to miss it.

Louis rubbed his eyes slightly before pinching the bridge of his nose. "Eagerly awaiting being left alone for once." He spat across the table. "Why must you turn everything into a game?" He lifted his hand from his face and gestured across the table towards Lestat. "Not everyone finds you as funny as yourself."

Lestat was taken aback, he had never expected this little outburst from Louis. If his heart had been beating he was sure that it would be hurting. "You should have told me sooner." He said with a scowl before standing. He scowled further when he caught his reflection in the tarnished mirror above the mantle. He took his cockeyed bow from his hair, placing the ribbon in his pocket before running his hands through his hair to lay it out flat. "If you truly long to be alone so badly, then go."

Louis scoffed and lifted his head up to look at Lestat. "I said nothing of the sort, Lestat." He sat back in his chair again and placed his hands in his lap. "I merely meant that sometimes you can be a little," he paused, as if searching for the correct word to describe his companion. "vexatious."

Lestat snorted and turned to look at him. "You said you were eagerly awaiting some alone time Louis, to me that sounds as though you wish to be left alone." Lestat moved to stand near him, his hands balanced on the table. "I am tired of being cooped up in the country. It is dull."

Louis nodded and pressed his finger tips together, forming a small tent with his hands. "I did, yes, but I merely meant it as a figure of speech." He sat forward again, picking up his fork and tossing the greens on his plate from side to side. "Well, this is my home." he said, bending his head down to sniff the food on his fork. "Get used to it or go somewhere else."

Lestat watched him sniff at the greens absently. "Even if you put them in your mouth they would taste like ash Louis, I told you this, remember?" Lestat sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Will you please come with me into town?" He was attempting to get used to the country, for his father's sake and Louis' but the constant drumming from the slave quarter was driving him mad. "I do not know how you can live with all of this noise."

He gently placed the fork down on the plate and listened intently to Lestat. Louis leaned further over the table and rested his elbows on either side of the plate in front of him. "Yes, they know about us. They watch us dine on empty plates and drink from empty glasses."

More nonsensical melodrama from Louis. "I do not care if they know about us Louis, you should know that by now." Lestat sighed and stroked a hand through Louis' hair. "You worry far too much for someone so new to the gift. Embrace what I gave you Louis, it is not the hell you make it out to be."

Louis was growing tired of Lestat always telling him to embrace the gift he was given. What gift? Damned for all eternity to walk among men that would never accept him, to watch anyone and everyone he ever came to care about die in one way or another. This was a gift? "But, it is hell. No matter where I go or how much I try not to think about it, it is hell. You've damned me."

Lestat sighed and squeezed Louis' shoulder. "If you say so Louis. Now, will you be coming with me to town or not? I could certainly use the company." Now he was starting to sound like a melancholy idiot.

Louis waved his hand in the air slightly, as if to agree with Lestat. He didn't really feel like going anywhere, but he knew if he didn't this would be yet another thing Lestat would complain about. "Yes, fine." he said softly, rubbing his forehead with his hand.

Lestat smiled and squeezed Louis' shoulder once more. "Thank you Louis." He said softly. He could tell that Louis had just given in, but still he was rather excited at the fact that he could actually go out and hunt, instead of being forced to eat someone near the plantation. It was far too risky to hunt so near your lair. "When shall we depart?"

Louis sighed and rubbed at the bridge of his nose, squeezing his eyes shut and thinking to himself about when he wanted to stagger out of his house and mope around town with Lestat. "I will meet you at the stables in half an hour. I need a little time alone."

Lestat could tell that something was still eating at Louis, but it would do him no good to continue pestering his fledgling. He nodded and moved away from Louis, resigning himself to checking in on his father in that short half hour he had alone. "Of course Louis." He said softly before moving to exit the room.
