Jareth watched her, and he knew that she was not telling the whole truth, but it did not matter. "The outside world has magic if you know how to use it." He summoned another floating crystal for emphasis. "If your husband was truly powerful he might be able to find a way back to you, if you so wish it." However she was right, humans from this world had no magic to speak of. "If you do not mind me asking, where is your husband from originally? Magic does not occur in this realm, and only powerful users from other realms can tap into it."

Belle began to feel a little uneasy. Should they really be discussing Rumple? Yes she was furious with him and had made it clear that she never wanted to see him again, but she did still love him. She didn't want to make someone that hated him aware of his location. "Look, I love my husband. I hate him." She paused, swallowing hard. "But I still love him. I don't think we should be discussing who he is. I don't want him to get hurt."

Jareth held up his hands. "Of course. I was simply curious as I have only heard of a few magicians strong enough to be that dangerous." He looked around the library once more. "But then again, you said there was a curse on this town. How did that happen?"

Belle chuckled a bit and smiled at him. "That, sir, is a very long story. We'd be here for ages." She walked over to her desk chair and sat down, resting her elbows on the table top. "But I suppose the simplest way to explain it to you is, cruel people that don't get what they want have horrible tempers. We've had our share of problems here."

He blinked. "Seems as though I have been wished into a strange place." He leaned against the wall and watched his crystal float about. "Well, I suppose I am stuck here until your wish has been fulfilled." He shrugged. "Sometimes being a King contractually bound by wishes is a bother."

Belle perked her head up and looked at Jareth with a confused expression. "But," she began, looking down at the desk only momentarily. "I don't even know what it is that I wished for exactly." She tried to remember when she had wished for him, and what she had been thinking about at the time. Sadly, she couldn't come up with anything. "I don't know how on Earth I could help you if I don't recall the wish."

He shrugged. "I will know when it is complete." He looked her over for a few moments. "I would not ask to stay the night with you, but if you could point me towards the inn in this town later on it would be much appreciated." He looked down and cocked his head to the side. "I suppose I should change as well."

Belle shook her head. "Usually I would be extremely against allowing strangers in my home. However, the inn requires money, which you don't have and I have none to spare. I have plenty of room and some clothes you could borrow if you'd like." Belle stood and began walking back around the desk. She must have stood too quickly, however, because she was suddenly overcome with a nauseous feeling so powerful that she had to run abruptly towards the trash can at the other end of the room.

Jareth gave her a small smile and nodded. "I can summon clothes, that will be no problem." To demonstrate he changed into jeans, and a nice sweater. He smiled. "What kind of Goblin King would I be if I couldn't blend in among humans?" When she stood and moved quickly to the trash can he watched her, his eyes narrowed slightly. That would explain the strange aura he had sensed around her from the moment he saw her. "How long have you been with child?"

Belle froze immediately after Jareth said the word --child--. She lingered in front of the trash can and straightened out of her hunched position very slowly. "I, uh," she paused, retrieving a small cloth from her pocket and wiping her mouth with it. "I'm not pregnant." she said, lying through her teeth. She had known for months, but hadn't said a word about it to anyone and swore the doctor to secrecy. The night she forced Rumple to cross the town line, she had planned to tell him. "Just something I ate, probably.

He cocked a brow. "You are a liar." He placed his hands in his pockets and sighed. "My job as Goblin King revolves around children, I can sense when a woman is with child. Most of my job is taking care of unwanted babies after all." He sighed and watched her a little more closely. "Your secret is safe with me."

Belle turned to face him and folded up the small cloth in her hands. "Thank you." she said, walking slowly back towards her desk. "I, uh, I haven't told anyone about this. Not even my husband." She moved around her desk and placed the cloth neatly in a small cubicle within it's frame. She began to shuffle through some of the papers in front of her.

Jareth nodded. "You are welcome." He watched her again. "How far along?" He moved from his spot on the wall and moved to sit on the edge of her desk again. "You are not showing yet..." He was blathering now, but he couldn't help it. He simply adored children, and babies, and anything having to do with small children.

Belle continued to fuss with the paper on her desk, trying to remain calm. She could feel a storm of tears brewing inside her and she was trying desperately to prevent it. "Almost three months." she said with a slight crackle to her voice. "I have no idea what I'm going to do. I don't think I can do this alone." She remembered all her dreams, everything she had hoped her and Rumple's life would have been. She remembered the joy she felt, holding the sonogram in her hands and envisioning Rumple holding his child for the first time.
All these thought were flowing through her head on a daily basis, and every time a new one surfaced she found herself wondering if she had made the right choice. She believed in second chances, but Rumple had used each and every chance she had in her already. Could she raise a child alone? Then the tears started falling out of her eyes and down her cheeks like a waterfall. She tried her best to contain them but they couldn't be stopped. She fell to the floor, curled into a small ball of fabric and hair as if she were trying to disappear from the world forever, just so she didn't have to think about any of this for a moment longer.

Out of all the reactions he could have gotten from her, he was not expecting her to crumple to the floor. Babies were supposed to be a happy occurrence, and yet here she was, a sobbing wreck. The Goblin King sighed and knelt by her, conjuring a handkerchief effortlessly. "Here." He wiped her eyes tenderly. "You will not be alone." He gave her a small smile. "You obviously do not want your husband here, and if the baby has any magical abilities you will need help placing a cap on them so that the child does not accidentally set fire to anything. I will assist you, as long as I am able."
